The setting: It’s mid afternoon on December 21st. She sits in her overstuffed chair in the corner of her living room. Her back is to the window behind the chair. Watching tv or just messing around on Facebook.… but thinking and praying as well. She turns to look out the window behind her for no real reason as she likes looking out that window. There can be a lot to see.
Sometimes she will just turn around sitting on her knees and resting her arms on the ledge just looking… at the birds, lots of different ones flit around in the trees, (That is why fall and winter are the best times to be gazing out the window) the clouds, the sunsets, the stars if there is a clear sky…
Lately the squirrels have been doing their acrobatic-oh-shit-i-hope-these-branches-hold dance. That is something to see! They are so daring in their jumping from tiny branch to tiny branch that she has gasped thinking for sure that she is going to see a squirrel slingshot over the tree… brave little creatures.
There tends to be a lot of hawks that come around as well as the usual little birds, once in a while there will be a lone seagull fly past. What we’re used to seeing… the usual.
There is a river close by that she can see the sun sparkle off of when the leaves fall too!
The usual turned into the unusual! In one big flocking way!
Ok, it feels too weird writing about myself in the third person… but I wanted you to get an idea of the area and the setting of where I was when this happened.
Yesterday while I was sitting in my chair messing around with something or other. I wasn’t even looking out the window but something caught my eye… all I saw in the sky was seagulls, had to be at least 3 dozen of them…as well as my cat whom gazed astonishingly at the commotion. She wasn’t flying with the gulls but they were doing this for such a long time even my cat got bored with it!
These birds were flying so close to my window and there were scores of them just flying around. Landing here and there and back to the sky. Then I noticed the building over to the side had seagulls lined up at the roof peak like feathery soldiers. The building I am talking about it a long apartment building… from my vantage point I can’t see the entire building but probably half.
Of course something like that I posted on my fb page lol and sure enough my friend Sadie made a comment referencing one of their songs… follow me on fb and you should be able to see it. Too funny! I ran, ran so far away… lol
The number of gulls was breathtaking. In the 10+ years I have lived here I have never ever seen such a thing, much less that many seagulls at one time. There were more that day (12/21/13) than I have ever encountered at the beach at any time. And I’ve been to the beach a lot... it’s one of my favorite places.
Being Reiki I knew it was a message and for me to look up what the seagulls represented for me. I’ve been going through a really rough time and now add the melding into it… sheesh I’m confused and exhausted but making progress everyday… sometimes its just a little sometimes a lot and sometimes backwards. We don’t like sdrawkcab. lol
Here is what we found about the Seagull:
“Seagulls are spiritual messengers that demonstrate that a higher communication with guides is taking place. He shows how to see above situations with a higher clarity and teaches that there are many perspectives to consider. Seagull shows a sense friendship and community and the cooperation that is needed for the whole to operate successfully. He teaches how to ride the currents of the mental, emotional and physical worlds. Are you going with the flow or fighting it? Are you cooperating with others? Are you open to your guides? Seagull can teach you many lessons of looking, living and being. It is time to listen and watch for the nuances and timing of action.”
Now here is where I got the information you just read about the seagull. This site is one of my favorites for totem information.
Now for me being a multiple that is so very appropriate and reassuring to what I am going through with the melding process. I really needed that!
